Malnutrition Intervention

In This Section

Acute malnutrition is a serious problem throughout both Nyadire's catchment area and the greater Mutoko District.

In order to address this problem, we support the extension of the Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) at Nyadire Hospital.

Acute childhood malnutrition, particularly among children positive for HIV, is a life threatening problem--it can, however, be managed effectively by therapeutically feeding children with Ready to Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) (for more information about acute malnutrition, click here).

We are supporting the training of hospital nurses and community health workers so malnutrition interventions and therapeutic feeding might be more effectively conducted not at central and often difficult-to-access hospitals but at rural satellite clinics in communities.
